Energy consumption savings in the leisure industry hit a hole in one

As golf clubs and their members prepare for the upcoming Ryder Cup, Powerstar, global leaders in energy storage and voltage optimisation is pleased to announce another successful installation within the leisure industry, adding to the company’s impressive portfolio.

Throughout the summer period, costs can soar for golf clubs; due to extended opening hours, an increase in activity for their events calendar, the additional maintenance required to keep the course in top condition and international championships such as the Ryder cup drawing more people to the sport.

Powerstar voltage optimisation systems are widely used throughout the leisure industry, achieving significant energy consumption and cost savings without compromising business operations or guest experience.

Bristol and Clifton Golf Club was keen to reduce its impact on the environment by reducing electricity consumption and carbon emissions, and following the installation of a Powerstar voltage optimisation system is now benefiting from 5% savings on annual electricity consumption achieved with a return on investment of 78.1%.

Mark Betteridge, club manager at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club commented, “We have been greatly impressed by the outcome of the installation and have seen an immediate saving in our power consumption and stability of supply.”

Powerstar has been installed into a number of golf and country clubs in the UK and is delivering average energy consumption savings of 6%, in addition to significant financial savings and carbon emission reductions that contributes to the company’s carbon reduction commitments.

Commenting on the installations Dr Alex Mardapittas, Powerstar’s managing director and inventor of the companies range of technologies said: “Nationally, golf clubs are coming to the realisation that reducing energy consumption through the simple implementation of voltage optimisation technologies will help to reduce costs, demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship and ensure fulfillment of legislation requirements.”

Keen advocates of golf, Powerstar also sponsor Sheffield based professional golfer Tom Perry, supporting the company’s local community and promoting local opportunities.

Powerstar is currently celebrating 15 years of trading – a credit to British manufacturing, which is all completed on site at its South Yorkshire based head office. The company is accredited with the prestigious Made in Sheffield accolade in acknowledgement of the quality of its manufacturing process.
